5 Useful Tips for Prolonging the Life of your 3D Printer

One thing that we have learned since purchasing our 3D printers is that they can be cranky little buggers at times.

To help you prolong the life of your cranky 3D printer, here are our five tips:

1. Keep Your Printer Clean

Regularly clean your printer to prevent dust and debris from accumulating on the print bed, nozzle, and other parts. We recommend using Isopropyl Alcohol to remove print debris from the bed (make sure it is cold first).

2. Lubricate moving parts

Lubricate the moving parts of your printer to keep them running smoothly. We use PTFE Lubricant to avoid damaging the plastic parts, however you could also use silicone.

3. Use high-quality filament

Use high-quality filament to ensure that your printer produces the best prints. Cheap filament can cause clogs and other issues that can damage your printer.

4. Calibrate your printer

Check your bed is level and secure, check the rollers on all axes move freely, and the x-axis is straight before running a calibration check. This ensures your print is accurate.

5. Upgrade your printer with higher quality parts

Upgrading your printer with high-quality after-market parts can extend its life as well as its functionality.

Examples of upgrades include:

– Improved Hot Ends
– Extruders
